C 阅读短文,回答问题。 For many years, no one could communicate with people who had been born without hearing. These deaf people were not able to use a spoken language. But, beginning in the 1700s, the deaf were taught a special language. Using this language, they could share thoughts and ideas with others. The language they used was a language without sound. It was a sign language. How did this sign language work? The deaf were taught to make certain movements using their hands, faces, and bodies. These movements stood for things and ideas. People might move their forefingers across their lips. This meant "You are not telling the truth". They might tap their chins with three fingers. This meant "my uncle". The deaf were also taught to use a finger alphabet. They used their fingers to make the letters of the alphabet. In this way, they spelled out words. Some deaf people could spell out words at a speed of 130 words per minute. Sign language and finger spelling are not used as much as they once were. Today, the deaf are taught to understand others by watching their lips. They are also taught how to speak. 1. What were deaf people taught in the 1700s? _________________________________________________________________ 2. However, even looking forward to have a good laugh can improve the immune system (免疫系统) or reduce pressure, US researchers reported on October 6. Another study have already shown that watching funny movie, or laughing at a joke, can cause healthy changes on the body. But this was the first time that just the anticipation (预期) of having fun has found to have similar effects, say researchers. The finding strengthens the advice that everyone shouldn't cheer up a little to live longer. 1. ________ 2. ________ 3. ________ 4. ________ 5. ________ 6. ________ 7. ________ 8. ________ 9. ________ 10. ________ 八、书面表达 根据下面的表格提示,写一篇题为Air Travel and Train Travel短文,简述乘飞机和坐火车旅行的利弊及你的观点。(100-120词左右)

First, it can save much time. We can fly from Qingdao to Guangzhou in three hours, but by train we have to spend 28 hours or more. Second, air travel is more comfortable because the plane flies so smoothly that we can rest well during the trip, while the train is crowded sometimes and passengers have to sit for a long time, which makes them fired. But train travel also has its own advantages. For example, travelling by train costs only 266 yuan while travelling by air costs us 1780 yuan. Besides this, through the windows of the train, we can enjoy the view of many big cities, such as Jinan, Zhengzhou, Wuhan, Changsha, etc. So I think different people like different ways of travelling.
