Learning English and a good mastery thereof, above all, is importance itself for us ourselves and for our country. [1] 学英语对中国来说是一项具有政治和经济意义的事儿，作为重要的元素早已融入中国的改革开放中。所以说，学习并掌握英语对我们学习者和国家都具有非常重大的意义。 [2] Here is a question we cannot bypass but have to positively respond to: How to earnestly learn and efficiently command English? [2] 这里有个问题不能回避，而且还要好好作答：如何真正有效地学习和掌握英语？ [3] Since China is currently wide open to the outside world and more and more native speakers are desperately pouring into China, finding their niche for lucrative profit by teaching the King’s English at almost every corner of Greater China. Actually we have learnt English from these native speakers for almost three decades. How is the result? [3] 既然中国向世界敞开大门，越来越多的老外拼命涌入中国，几乎中华区的每个角落都有他们的踪迹，因为他们看好这块诱人的肥肉--教中国人学习“地道英语”。实际上，我们也就这么学了几乎三十年。结果如何呢？ [4] It goes without saying that we, Chinese English learners, are still shying away from occasions where we are forced to talk in English as we are, in all likelihood, struck dumb or tongue-tied or mentally retarded in using English, actually lacking the true communicative proficiency and capacity. [4] 不用说，中国的英语学习者，总是尽量回避一切讲英语的场合。多数情况下，我们所学的英语是排不上用场。全是哑巴英语，一说起来就没词了，语塞或出现英语脑瘫的情况。说实在的，我们的实际英语交流能力和水平真的太差劲了。 [5] Almost every English learner has a strong desire to learn Spoken English in hopes that they can effectively communicate with native speakers. So they attend all spoken English classes taught by Chinese teachers and native speakers by turns, and sure they are freshly stimulated and fed with a world of stylish English expressions, colloquialisms and even slang. They seem to have never been bored with all this stuff. But what’s the current reality? It still does not work when they are obliged to communicate with native speakers. They can show themselves off to their heart’s content by squeaking one or two phases or expressions they have crammed for it, but actually they just make a laughingstock of themselves in the eyes of native speakers who may think this way: they are all dummies and show-offs but fail to have the normal communicative capacities. [5] 几乎每个英语学习者都强烈的愿望--学好口语，这样就能和老外进行交流了。所以他们报班，接受中国英语老师和老外轮番的顺化和指导，好新鲜也好刺激地学了一大堆时髦的英语，什么口语表达，甚至俚语一有尽有。他们乐此不疲地学习这些东西，但现实情况又如何呢？一旦和老外交流起来，还是不管用。他们只是死记硬背几个短语或表达形式，赶紧向老外炫耀一番，看看我的英语还行吧！殊不知，在老外眼里，他们只不过是一群小丑罢了，老外们自然会这么想：一群屌丝，只会炫耀一通，根本没有正常交流的能力。 [6] As we all know, NOE and other so-called famous brands in China hold sway in the Chinese English teaching market, actually taking the lion’s shares. They bombard the Chinese English learners with all kinds of well-schemed or engineered courses like crazy, which moulds the learners into the patterned examinees crammed with all rigid knowledge strings to cater to the fixed questions in the test papers. [6] 众所周知，NOE和其他几家大牌子的英语教育机构垄断了中国的英语教育市场，他们占有绝对市场份额，所以也就可以连珠炮似地向中国的英语学习者轮番推出各式各样精心策划的课程，把他们全都打造成了同一模式的应试者，满脑子填充的尽是死记硬背的知识串，按套路好应付试卷中的固定问题。 [7] Ok, ahead lie problems, which permits of no skirting round or sidestepping. How to earnestly learn and efficiently command English? [7] 好了，问题就在眼前，不容回避：如何真正有效地学习和掌握英语？ [8] Here Mr. Yan will give you some tips, which may offer you some food for thought or may set you thinking in earnest about this problem. [8] 现在，阎老师要给你一些建议，或许能引起你的思考和对这个问题的重视。 [9] First，”Attitude determines altitude and result”. To be more specific, in view of learning a foreign language, it is your attitude but not aptitude that contributes to your final success. You are kindly requested to take the more practical or down-to-earth attitude. [9] 首先，“态度决定高度和结果”，具体说来，学习一门外语，最终决定你的成功的关键在于你的态度而非你的天资。这里温馨提请大家留意：要采取务实或踏踏实实的态度。 [10] In the second place, you are kindly requested to follow suit by taking Andrew Yan as a pacesetter and a typical example by substantially building several En-learning sub-systems. To read assorted English articles as many as you can by paying more attention to the words and the sentence structures and jotting down whatever to your taste or liking, and try hard to check up the difficult words in the dictionary to facilitate you to know how to read them correctly, where to stress and use the different tones; To build up a large vocabulary based on your reading and by making sentences with the words as many as possible; To exercise the grammatical notes and sentence patterns for the benefit of the full command and control to solve your reading and writing problems; To write or type out your ideas into English articles to flatter yourself by reading aloud to yourself or your family; To try your hand at translating things from Chinese into English or vice versa, if possible, followed by the basic building of the above-mentioned sub-systems. [10] 其次，请你们以阎老师为标杆和榜样，仿效他的方法做下去，扎扎实实地构建若干个英语学习的子系统：尽可能多读英语文章，不管什么题材都要读，同时要注意文章的词汇和句子结构，对自己感觉有用的东西都逐一记录下来。还有就是，对生僻的词语要多查词典,搞清楚如何正确朗读这些词语，并注意重音和升降调；基于阅读构建词汇系统，同时要多多用所学的词语造句；对语法要点和句式结构，要多做练习，这样才能搞得滚瓜烂熟，有助于我们解决阅读和写作的实际问题；另外，就是要将我们的思想写进小文，然后可以臭美一通，放声读给自己或家人听；最后就是在构建完上述几个子系统后，小试牛刀，尝试着翻译，不管是汉译英还是英译汉，看看行不行吧！ [11] To sum up, only when we can shape up the different En-learning sub-systems can we get somewhere in terms of our comprehensive English capacities and proficiency and sure we can use English for daily communications with anyone we want to and solve real problems in our interdisciplinary study.
