Many cities have subways and underground public transportation to take locals and tourists alike rapidly around the city. However, there’s something different about riding a Lon don subway. It may not look different, but the historical value of one of England’s most popular forms of transportation is enough to make riding the subway a must when visiting London. With a little under 300 different stations, the subway can take you almost anywhere you need to go.
Riding a London subway, a person from other countries will notice one major difference: in London, people do not look at each other. In fact, eye contact is avoided at all times. That’s not rudeness―people are just too busy to bother looking.
Busy doing what, you ask? Well, they’re certainly not using the time for a moment of quiet thinking. Nor are they reading a book. New technology has replaced quiet habits. Today the only acceptable form of book on the London underground is an e-book.
Apple must earn a fortune from London commuters(使用月票上下班者). Since the launch of the iPhone in 2007, over 40,000―yes, that’s 40,000 “apps” have been designed.
Commuters love them because they are the perfect time-fillers. One “app”, called iShoot, is a game that features tanks. Another one, Tube Exits, tells passengers where to sit on the train to be closest to the exit of their destination. iSteam clouds the iPhone screen when you breathe into the microphone. You can then write in the “steam” on your phone screen.
For those without an iPhone, another Apple product, the iPod, may be the distraction(消遣)of choice. It’s not just teenagers who “plug in” to their music-iPods are a popular way to pass the time for all ages.
And if games, e-books and music aren’t enough to keep you occupied, then perhaps you would prefer a film? The development of palm DVD technology means many commuters watch their favorite TV shows or films on the way to work. With all these distractions, it’s amazing that people still remember to get off the train.
    61. Those who want to save time to reach where they go can download ______ to their iPhones.
    A. iShoot B. Tube Exits C. iSteam D. iPod
    62. People in London do not make eye contact on the subway because ______.
    A. they are going to work and have no time to communicate with each other
    B. they love reading books and do not want to be disturbed
    C. they feel sleepy because of getting up early
    D. they are busy playing games, reading e-books, listening to music or watching films
    63. The underlined word “apps” in the fourth paragraph means ______.
    A. computers B. programs downloaded for the iPhone
    C. computer companies D. fortune from London commuters
    64. Which word best describes the writer’s attitude towards commuters’ behaviors?
    A. for B. against C. neutral D. hateful
    65. The main idea of the passage is that ______.
    A. London commuters are unfriendly to strangers
    B. Apple has earned a lot of money from selling 40,000 apps
    C. technology is chang ing how London commuters spend their traveling time
    D. riding a London subway is a must when visiting London

Everybody is happy as his pay rises. Yet pleasure at your own can disappear if you learn that a fellow worker has been given a bigger one. Indeed, if he is known as being lazy, you might even be quite cross. Such behavior is regarded as “all too human”, with the underlying belief that other animals would not be able to have this finely developed sense of sadness. But a study by Sarah Brosnan of Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, which has just been published in Nature, suggests that it is all too monkey, a s well.
The researchers studied the behaviors of some kind of female brown monkeys. They look smart. They are good-natured, co-operative creatures, and they share their food happily. Above all, like female human beings, they tend to pay much closer attention to the value of “goods and services” than males.
Such characteristics make them perfect subjects for Doctor Brosnan’s study. The researchers spent two years teaching their monkeys to exchange tokens (奖券) for food. Normally, the monkeys were happy enough to exchange pieces of rock for pieces of cucumber. However, when two monkeys were placed in separate and connected rooms, so that each other could observe what the other is getting in return for its rock, they became quite different.
In the world of monkeys, grapes are excellent goods (and much preferable to cucumbers). So when one monkey was handed a grape in exchange for her token, the second was not willing to hand hers over for a mere piece of cucumber. And if one received a grape without having to provide her token in exchange at all, the other either shook her own token at the researcher, or refused to accept the cucumber. Indeed, the mere presence of a grape in the other r oom (without an actual monkey to eat it) was enough to bring about dissatisfaction in a female monkey.
The researches suggest that these monkeys, like humans, are guided by social senses. In the wild, they are co-operative and group-living. Such co-operation is likely to be firm only when each animal feels it is not being cheated. Feelings of anger when unfairly treated, it seems, are not the nature of human beings alone. Refusing a smaller reward completely makes these feelings clear to other animals of the group. However, whether such a sense of fairness developed independently in monkeys and humans, or whether it comes from the common roots that they had 35 million years ago, is, as yet, an unanswered question. w.w.^w.zxxk.c.#o@m
    66. According to the passage, which of the following statements is TRUE?
    A. Only monkeys and humans can have the sense of fairness in the world.
    B. Women will show more dissatisfaction than men when unfairly treated.
    C. In the wild, monkeys are never unhappy to share their food with each other.
    D. Monkeys can exchange cucumbers for grapes, for grapes are more attractive.
    67. The underlined statement “it is all too monkey” means that ________.
    A. monkeys are also angry with lazy fellows
    B. feeling angry at unfairness is also monkey’s nature
    C. monkeys, like humans, tend to be envious of each other
    D. no animals other than monkeys can develop such feelings
    68. Female monkeys of this kind are chosen for the research most probably because they are ____.
    A. more likely to pay attention to the value of what they get
    B. attentive to researchers’ instructions
    C. nice in both appearance and behaviors
    D. more ready to help others than their male companions
    69. Which of the following conclusions is TRUE according to the passage?
    A. Human beings' feelings of anger are developed from the monkeys.
    B. In the research, male monkeys are less likely to exchange food with others.
    C. Co-operation between monkeys stays firm before the realization of being cheated.
    D. Only monkeys and humans have the sense of fairness dating back to 35 million years ago.
    70. What can we infer about the monkeys in Sarah’s study?
    A. The monkeys can be trained to develop social senses.
    B. They usually show their feelings openly as humans do.
    C. The monkeys may show their satisfaction wit h equal treatment.
    D. Co-operation among the monkeys remains effective in the wild.
    A. Arguments are pointless.
    B. Your parents only want what's best for you.
    C. Everyone's opinion matters only as much as you want them to.
    D. You learn by doing.
    E. Your emotions are under your control.
    F. You aren't stuck in any situation.
    Life is the greatest teacher
There always comes a moment when I wonder where I will end up and this moment always serves as a strong motivation for me to learn life les son. I've learned a great many things, but these are the lessons that I wish I'd learned earlier:
    71. _________
There was a time when everyone's opinion was mine as well. Whatever preferences I formerly held were dashed in the face of another's. This most likely came from a need to please others. Remember that your opinion matters just as much as the next guy's, whether they make more money than you or are less popular than you. Everyone's opinion holds the same weight.
    72. _________
Drama, chaos, and emotional unrest — these were what took up most of my time as a teenager. If I had heard someone said bad things behind my back, I'd be angry. Go crazy. Looking back on those tantrums now, I'm not too surprised. After all, when you have little self control, anything is possible. The lessons here is, remain aware of how you react.
    73. _________
Will one small quarrel among friends decide the fate of the entire universe? In my world it felt like it. I just wanted so much to be right and for them so much to be wrong. But in the end, it only resulted in me wasting my time and in the other person storming off in frustration. Is there really a point to arguing? Unless it's absolutely necessary, I've learned that it's better to hold your breath on things you can't control at all. Arguing to change someone's mind is one of them.
    74. _________
I'm not saying every parent wants what's best for you (there are outliers), but in general, parents do what they do for you in your best interest. My parents used to make me do the dishes, cook dinner, sweep the floors, mow the lawn, take out the garbage… the list goes on and on. And at every turn, I'd whine and complain. I'd eventually end up doing it. Now, I honestly see the value in having learned those skills. I can efficiently cook and clean up after myself.
    75. _________
Whenever I’d lose a friend, get an awful grade, or disappoint my parents, I stewed in my own muck. Waiting for the bad moments to go away seemed to be the only solution. Fortunately, I know now that you don’t have to be stuck in bad situations. You can go out and create better ones. It all depends on perspective; on how you see the situation. Viewing everything as a learning experience makes life more pleasurable, even during the hard times. You aren't stuck. You can move on.
I'm glad to have learned these lessons the way I did. Each experience helped shape me to become a better person. I don't know if any young people are reading this, but if they are, I'd like to say this: “Listen to life and its experiences. Everyone goes through mostly the same things.”

Although all the students seem very happily at our school, but the buildings would be more beautiful if the school could decorated. We students thought the school looks like a desert and the concrete walls like the grey sky in a rainy day. We would be much happier and be able to study better if there are the number of posters, photos and paintings on the wall, that could certainly broaden our horizons and enrich our lives. Original art work are too expensive, but unless we buy art posters, the cost will be low. Using only a little money, it can make our school a nicer place.

    第二节:书面表达(满分15分)
    One possible version
    Hi, Grown-up,
As a student of your age, I understand your situation. The problem you are facing is common among our teenagers. However, it should be wise not to do anything that may hurt her feelings. Here are a few suggestions.
First, it’s advisable to talk more with your mom. Heart to heart talks help you understand each other better. Besides, why not find more opportunities to let her know your ideas and attitudes toward many things. In this way, she may realize you have grown up .
Second, you should learn to do your own things well, proving to your mom that you are already a “Grown-up”. It’s even better if you could share more of the housework, such as cleaning, washing and cooking. I believe your mom will eventually understand you and you can get along well with her.
